MAY WE BLESS THE LORD, OUR GOD
How often has sin darkened my understanding
How often has it perverted my will
How often has it depraved my affections
How often did I bend as a brittle reed still.
If I acknowledge my transgressions
My sader failures in heart and life
Then I'll desire, in patience of heart
To flee to Thee, free of strife.
By all I owe to my Redeemer
I shall seek to begin afresh
And give myself to holy service
Acknowledging the victory of His rest.
May we bless the Lord, our God who has been our guardian and protector throughout the day. As we approach the Gates of Prayer this evening may it be with thanksgiving. May we render unto Him praise for our outward blessings and for the fellowship of loving and congenial hearts. May we bless Him, above all, for our spiritual life, for He has put a new song on our lips -- "Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ is at the right hand of God the Father where He makes intercession for us."
Looking for the perfection of His sacrifice, the efficacy of His intercession, the fullness of all sufficiency of His grace, we can joyfully proclaim, "we know whom we have believed, and are persuaded that He is able to keep that which we have committed unto Him." Love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, soul and strength!
